Cedar Rock Mountain Loop via Rocky Bald Loop Trail and Cedar Rock Trail(edit)

Overview

This is a pleasant, moderate loop trail to Cedar Rock Mountain in Nine Times Preserve.

This is a nice loop hike in either direction. This track starts from the Rocky Bald Parking, but you can also start from the Cedar Rock Parking area.

Hiking CCW from Rocky Bald Parking, there is a moderate climb to near the summit of Cedar Rock Mtn, with a couple of steep spots. It is worth going a short distance out of your way to visit the summit, and some bald rocky views. This is delicate habitat, so be mindful of your impact.

From here the trail has a steeper descent to the Cedar Rock Parking area. Cross the street to find the trail that parallels the road (the Appalachian Lumber Trail), making a gentle descent back to your car.

Room for a few cars at Rocky Bald Parking. Room for 10-12 cars at Cedar Rock Parking.

Taking Children

This hike is good for children and dogs with supervision.
