Foothills Trail - Table Rock State Park to Oconee State Park
Overview
The Foothills Trail is a nationally recognized hiking trail located in Upstate SC and Western NC. The trail widely used for day hikes, through-hikes, and backpack trips in between. This trail goes by Spring Bluff Falls, Bald Knob viewpoint, Drawbar Cliffs, Emory Gap, Hickorynut Mountain, Cantrell Campsite, Sassafras viewpoint, Sassafras Mountain, Chimneytop Gap, Chimneytop Gap Access, Virginia Hawkins Falls, Virginia Hawkins Campsite, Laurel Fork Campsite, Laurel Fork Falls, Rock Creek Campsite, Toxaway Creek Campsites, Bear Creek Campsite, Bear Gap, Buck Fields, Whitewater Falls Viewing Platform, Whitewater Falls Overlook, Grassy Knob, Slatten Branch Falls, Sloan Bridge Picnic Area, Upper Sloan Bridge Falls, Lower Sloan Bridge Falls, Hiker's Peril Falls, Medlin Mountain, Spoonauger Falls, Big Bend Falls, Licklog Falls, Pigpen Falls, Upper Pigpen Falls, South Carolina Noname 37026 D-1631 Dam, Dodge Mountain, and Long Mountain.
Getting Started
This track begins at Table Rock State Park at the Nature Center, and ends at Oconee State Park. SC State Park fees/permits are required at both. Shuttle services are available to assist those doing 1-way backpacks. More information can be found at: https://foothillstrail.org
Taking Children
The trail is well-marked and maintained, and it is generally safe for children. Some sections are steep and challenging, so routes should be planned carefully. The trail is good for leashed pets as well.
