Overview

This is a moderate but short loop trail to Big Rock Mountain in Nine Times Forest.

The trail starts with a steep climb up to the base of Big Rock Mountain. Around 0.8 miles in, you'll see a trail dropping to the right. This leads to the rock climbing walls and some interesting boulder fields. For this hike, continue straight toward the Big Rock Summit.

You'll want to take your time on this section, with many long-distance views and beautiful boulder scenes. At the top you'll find a peaceful and attractive summit, with various side trails to views.

After the summit, the trail follows a roadbed to the SSE. This roadbed loops around to the north, providing an easy loop back to the beginning. There are a number of other roadbed crossings, so follow the track carefully.
