First hike of the year, and in AZ. First off, I would not describe this hike as easy to moderate. The majority of the trail is stone, every size from gravel to basketball or bigger sized rocks, many following a wash. Once you get to the base of the Mtn and start your final ascent to the cave, there are some vertical scales that can be difficult. The cave itself is huge once you reach the top, plus at the back the cave becomes like a hallway, and if you are real brave,,,, but you can hear the bats chirping at you!!
Just know the parking lot has room for about 6 cars at the trailhead, and that’s it, and I’ve been told not to park in the adjoining residential area for you may have your car towed. We went mid morning on a Tuesday and got the last spot.
It really is a beautiful hike tho, you are surrounded by Saguaro’s, and the view once you get to the top is rewarding!
