Overview
This is a moderate out and back trail to Grassy Ridge Bald from Carver's Gap, in the Roan Mountain area. This hike features gorgeous, 360º views on these high mountain bands, along the Appalachian Trail on the NC/TN border.
Most of this hike follows the Appalachian Trail, which is very wide and well maintained. The last section up to Grassy Ridge Bald is a spur trail off the AT, which is well marked. This spur trail is easy to follow, but can be narrow and crowded on a busy day.
This trail goes by Round Bald, Roan Mountain, and Jane Bald.

Good parking, but fills up quickly!
Taking Children
This is a great family hike. Smaller children may need assistance on some steeper, rocky sections.
