Overview
This is an easy out and back trail in the Roan Highlands. Starting from Carver's Gap on the Appalachian Trail, it goes by Round Bald and Jane Bald with fantastic 360º views.
It is highly recommended to continue up the spur trail to Grassy Ridge Bald to extend the hike and get more gorgeous views.
Getting Started
There is good parking and toilets at Carver's Gap where the AT crosses. Even so, the parking fills up quickly at this popular destination.
Taking Children
This is a good hike for children, and you are likely to see many there. Children may require assistance on some trail sections.

One of our favorite walks. Go up in early evening to see the sunset. Camp for the evening (usually windy!). Get up to see the sunrise.
