Overview

This is a easy one way trail to Wintergreen Campsite in Gorges State Park.

This can also be done as a moderate in-and-out hike on the Auger Hole Trail, from the Frozen Creek Trailhead to the Toxaway River and back. The round trip is around 8 miles. The trail is a maintained roadbed, and it is very clearly marked.

Note that this trail passes several known waterfalls that are far below the trail. These are extremely strenuous to get to, and can be quite dangerous. It is not recommended to try to visit these.

Getting Started

The hike starts from the Frozen Creek Trailhead on the East side of Gorges State Park. There is ample parking and portable toilets are available.

Taking Children

The main trail is safe for children and leashed pets.
