Laurel Valley to Lake Jocassee via Foothills Trail
Overview
This is a moderate, one-way route on the Foothills Trail from Laurel Valley Access to Laurel Fork Falls in South Carolina. This is section A4 to A5 of the FHT: https://foothillstrail.org/portfolio/laurel-valley-a4-to-laurel-fork-falls-a5/
The trail is in good condition and mostly moderate, with a few steep sections of steps. There are many nice bridges over water crossings, and none are difficult. This trail goes by Virginia Hawkins Falls, Virginia Hawkins Campsite, and Laurel Fork Campsite. The access to Lake Jocassee is only a short distance past Laurel Fork Campsite, on a spur trail off the FHT.
Note that the Trailhead at Lake Jocassee can only be reached by boat. This hike is generally done as an in-and-out or as part of a longer hike.
