I did this trail with my 2006 2wd Toyota Tacoma Prerunner. I have rear locking differential but did not have to engage. Easy trail, some Rocky portions and about 100 yards of compacted snow. No trouble at all. Plenty of places to stop and take in the view.

Big Bear to Pioneertown OHV 8/17/20 10:52:30 AM
Features: Great contrast of desert to mountains. This really demonstrates the diverse topography and plant life of the area. Plan to spend some time in Pioneertown or Pappy and Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace (saloon). Prepare: 1.5 hours one way No cell reception for most. Bring lots of water. We saw zero people on the trail on a hot Monday. Difficulty: High clearance 2WD. Wide enough to not get scratches on vehicle. A Subaru Forrester could do this. Much of it is a slow rocky trail that involves picking good lines and enjoying some amazing scenery.
