Overview

This is a moderate 7.6 mile trail that begins off Roaring Fork Road, and ends in the Greenbrier section of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It begins at the historical home site known as Jim Bales place. The trail winds through several old farm fields along Rhododendron Creek. It should be noted that there are a few creek crossings that do not have footbridges, so make sure to check water levels before heading out. This trail has several sections that have some elevation gain, roughly 500-600 ft at a time, before descending again. After passing backcountry campsite 32, make sure to watch for the famous steam tractor that has been in the creek since 1920.

The last report of trail conditions (2/2022), reports that there are several passable blowdowns. Just use caution.
