Overview

This is a easy one way trail to Guthega Trig in Kosciuszko National Park. From there, you will enjoy great views over the Guthega pondage, dam and village as well as surrounding mountains including Mount Twynam and Mount Tate.

The trig has fallen off and lies below the boulders. It therefore cannot be seen from the track and surrounding areas.

In winter the trail is covered by snow. Snow shoes are required.

From the trig, you can either return along the same route or continue on towards Consett Stephen Pass, Mount Tate, Mann Bluff, Mount Anton, Mount Twynam and return via the Illawong Swing Bridge (20km+).

Getting Started

Park your car opposite the Guthega Centre (opposite the Car Park Double Chair Lift). From there, make your way across the dam wall and follow the access track before turning left into the Guthega Trig Walk Trail. Note that the start of the trail is not very well defined and easy to miss. You will know that you have gone too far if the access trail starts to slope down again.

Taking Children

The hike is quite easy, but steep. Probably best not attempted with very young kids (or take time).
