We’ve been to Hospital Rock before but never past it. The trail prior to the rock is a great mix of trail and rocky climbs with several great views of Greenville and Paris Mountain along the way, plus a jaunt through a power line area. A small set of falls along the way are interesting and this time there has been a lot of rain so the falls 500’ or so above were active and visible. The climb get more robust once you pass the rock, something a look at the map will show you with the close elevation contours. We ran out of time but almost made it to the top of the ridge where things flatten out a bit. We plan on planning for more time soon so we can play on the top. I’m thinking a 5 hour day since this hike took about 3:15. At some point when the rains subside we intend to take the trail over Fall Creek Fall and down that side for a loop. This requires a 9 mile hike with about 2 miles on roads back to the JG parking area.
