View on Bridge Loop via Wildwood Trail
Overview
This is a moderate loop hike in Forest Park which starts and ends at the Ridge Trailhead. This trail goes by View on Bridge with views of the iconic St. Johns Bridge. The route follows the Ridge Trail consistently and moderately steeply up to the Wildwood. After a short stint on the flat Wildwood, the trail heads down Firelane 7A. Firelane 7A is overgrown and far less enjoyable than either the Wildwood or the Ridge Trail.
Getting Started
Parking for the Ridge Trail is along NW Bridge Avenue south of the St. Johns Bridge. There is a small pullout for about 5 cars on the west side of NW Bridge Ave. This loop route is accessed by either walking north to stairs which leads to the Bridge Trail or south to Firelane 7A. The only sidewalk is on the east side of NW Bridge Avenue, although you can walk along a dirt path on the west side.
Taking Children
There are many better hikes in Forest Park for children. The walk along NW Bridge Ave. to the trails or crossing the road to the sidewalk and back is a bit sketchy.
