Overview

This is a easy one way trail to Howard Douglas Lake in Banff National Park. Sunshine Meadows are accessible via the Sunshine Gondola June - early September and once up high, you can also ride the Standish Chair for more elevation and views. The trail is well maintained (gravelled) to the top of the last ridge before the lake. Beautiful alpine environment, expansive meadows, flowers, views!

This trail goes by Life on the edge, Hummocks, Welcome to the continental divide, Islands, World at your feet, Rock Isle Viewpoint, A shared wilderness, and Rock isle lake.

2022-09-03 Excellent, easy hike. Smoke in the air so views were compromised. Summer flowers are just about done but fireweed leaves are red and anemone seed heads are everywhere. Larches are still green. Sadly, the gondola for easy access closes on Sept. 11.
