Cape Horn Viewpoint via Cape Horn Loop Trail
Overview
Explore the Cape Horn Loop Trail on the north shore of the Columbia River, a scenic and moderate route. This 7.1-mile loop takes an average of 3 hours and 20 minutes to complete and is popular for hiking, running, and birding. Expect to share the trail with others, especially on weekends.
Open from July through November, this hike offers sweeping views of the Columbia River Gorge from a viewpoint around 1,200 feet above the water. The descent leads you to the river’s edge, where lava rock fields and towering basalt cliffs line the path. Along the way, you’ll pass a picturesque waterfall before the trail loops back toward Cape Horn Road and the parking area.
Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash.
