Lookout Mountain via High Prairie Trail #493(edit)

Overview

This is a moderate hike up to Lookout Mountain with incredible views of all of the local stratovolcanoes. During the hike you also get to see the shift of the landscape from evergreen forest to dry desert basin below. This is one of the most rewarding quick day hikes this area has to offer.

This trail goes by Senecal Spring and High Prairie Trailhead.

Getting Started

Access the trail across the street from the High Prairie Trailhead lot. 4x4 and high clearance recommended, but not completely necessary. The road is very rough, and if there's any snow up there, don't go up without 4wd.

Taking Children

This is an awesome hike for children. It's just enough exercise to wear them out without overdoing it.
