Getting Started
Trailhead Access Update
Important: Access to the trailhead requires a high-clearance 4WD vehicle. The road is steep, rocky, and severely rutted, especially early in the season.
As of June 2025, the U.S. Forest Service has closed the road for summer maintenance in an effort to improve access. This route has long been in poor condition and has only deteriorated over time. The current work aims to restore safe and reliable access to the Ed’s Trailhead, which has been nearly inaccessible for many vehicles in recent years.
Check with the Gifford Pinchot National Forest for current closure status and updates before planning your trip.
