Pisgah NF’s Daniel Ridge Loop
Pretty easy and water filled loop. Gradual uphill w big stream on left. Then cut back to right and start heading down. Little out and bag near end to massive waterfall. For the second day in a row a snake was blocking the trail, this time a copperhead (we think). Throwing Little Rock’s at it wouldn’t work so I grabbed a stick and ushered it out of the way.

Cold start but terrific hiking conditions. Trail conditions good.
This week we will travel to Pisgah past the Fish Hatchery and hike the Daniel Ridge Loop. The trail follows the Davidson River upstream with some steady climbing. The distance is 5 miles with about 1100 feet of elevation gain and is rated moderate/strenuous.
