Hiked December 28th - Planned to hike to the falls, but see the trail continue beyond to the lake, so we decided to see how far we could go. We went up about 2/3 of the way as the trail thinned out; until we hit a downed tree; then the craziness in us decided to see how much further we could go. Well we ended up trudging through mid calf to upper thigh high snow. And made it to the lake. It wasn’t that cold and apart from some wind, it was lightly snowing making for a beautiful hike! The last couple hundred meters were quite steep and any more layers of snow and likely avalanche risk. What an experience!
Given a 4 only because of the route finding in the snow
