Overview

This is a difficult one way trail in Bear's Den Park.

This trail goes by Bear's Den Overlook.

Getting Started

Park at Snicker's Gap parking area. On weekends this may be crowded due to people wanting to go to the overlook. There is a trail from the parking lot that goes to the AT (blue blaze) or you can follow route 7 to get to the AT.

Taking Children

This is an okay hike for kids. You can turn around easily enough but remember it's still hilly coming back too. There is a lot of up and down and it is very rocky. I'd give this a 3 for a first time hike. Out and back is ten miles and that can be a lot. There is nothing exciting to see after the first overlook though so they might get bored.

But if it's a kid or kids that are experienced in hiking and they like climbing on little rocks this would probably be a 5 or a 6.

Trail is in great shape. Streams are very crossable without poles. Parking lot was packed on the weekend as Bears Den is not yet open.
