Great hike. One of my favorites in the area! We set off from the Jenkins gap parking lot at 11:45am and there were only 2 other cars in the lot. Went clockwise and the Mount Marshall road portion was beautiful, but definitely started to feel long after about 5 miles. After crossing back over Skyline drive and heading up on the AT, the views were incredible with a few scenic rock outcroppings to stop for a break. We only encountered 3 other people on the trail and got back to the car at 6:45, tired and ready for some rest! Nothing about this hike was particularly difficult, other than the length. There are lots of ticks. I wore leggings, and a long sleeve shirt + a mosquito net hood over my hat (for the gnats and flies), and still ended up with a tick! My husband had 2 on him. Bring lots of water, especially in the summer. My Apple Watch recorded 22.25 kilometers from start to finish.
