This is a spectacular entrance and/or exit (I’ve done both) of Grand Gulch. But note that the label of “Easy” for this route is totally unfounded. There is extensive route finding, loose track, and even some easy to moderate Class 3 scrambling. Anyone in their right mind would label this route as Difficult in either direction.

Hiked in on Kane Gulch and camped at the confluence of with Toadie Gulch. Absolutely gorgeous canyon walls and of course the Puebloan ruins scattered throughout will leave you deep in contemplation. I hiked up and out of Toadie Gulch & if you decide to exit or enter this way be aware it is an extremely difficult route. The ‘trail’ is intermittent at best with some bushwhacking, light bouldering, climbing a very steep canyon wall with loose rock and dirt to exit. In the end very rewarding! Once you get to the top you are greeted with vast views, beautiful!
