An amazing float on the Potomac. A few riffles to make it interesting, but mostly calm water. There are places to stop if you want to swim or picnic.

Busy on the weekends. If you turn away from the river on one of the smaller trails you will run across little to no others.

With Calvin, lots bird watching, did not see Eagles nest empty. In canal watchd snapping turtles mate pretty cool. Beautiful weather. I drove.

Really nice level hike with opportunities to get down to the Potomac River and be isolated from the crowd.

SL’s first hike. Very short hike due to significant rain on Christmas Day and now fooding on some parts of the trail.

Riverbend Trail
On the opposite site of Great Falls Park. Good alternative to Great Falls Park. Good view, pretty flat and moderate distance.

Potomac Heritage Trail is fine up to American Legion but crossing Dead Run is not easy nor fun for me. And Dead Run trail includes several scrambles across gullies with a Rope and a prayer.

Great view at the end. Unfortunately very busy at the top.
