Thornewood OpenSpace don't have many trails, but the Bridle Train goes through a beautiful redwood grove and make the visit worthwhile. I stopped here for the first time on the way home from La Honda Open Space. It's pretty easy to drive past and not notice. I hiked to Schilling Lake first (althoughtit's hardly a "lake"), then went down the Bridle Trail on the way back. It's only a mile, downhill all the way, ending at Old La Honda Road. The trails were in good shape in spite of recent rain, only a little muddy on the way down. I'd recommend this for anyone wanting a great view of redwoods but not wanting to hike too far.
