Runyon Canyon Park is a Los Angeles City Park in the Santa Monica Mountains of California.
Are you looking for your hike to include a possible sighting of celebrities crowded with many many young and hip people, well then welcome to Runyon Canyon. Possibly the most crowded hiking experience in the Los Angeles area.
Runyon Canyon is not a pretty park being south facing it has only modest dry shrubbery and the trails are well used. However on the clear day you do have excellent views of the Hollywood, downtown, the Wilshire district and possibly on really clear days even the ocean and Catalina. Some of the trails are fairly steep and so it's a workout haven for people in the area.
While there are several entrances, generally speaking people driving use the entrance on the north coming from Mulholland. The park is free and there is a parking lot at the Mulholland entrance however it is usually full. However there is so much traffic that your best bet is to wait in the parking lot as a space usually opens soon. There are Hollywood entrances however parking is worse down there and there is quite a bit of restricted street parking. The other entrances are for the side and require winding though neighborhoods. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runyon_Canyon_Park for details.
