Day 05: Viconga to Cuyoc + Paso San Antonio
Depart Viconga camp and ascend gradually toward Punta Cuyoc (5,050m), enjoying spectacular glacier views of Nevado Cuyoc and Puscanturpa. After reaching the pass, descend steeply on loose dirt and scree into the broad pampa of Cuyoc camp (4,500m).
From camp, an optional but highly recommended side trip climbs steeply to Paso San Antonio (5,080m), offering some of the best alpine views of the entire Huayhuash Circuit. Clear weather is essential to fully enjoy the panorama of Siula Grande, Yerupajá, and surrounding lakes. Expect a strenuous but unforgettable day.
