Overview
This is a difficult loop trail in Beacon Rock State Park.
This trail goes by Equestrian Camp and Beacon Rock State Park Campground.
Getting Started
Also called Hardy Ridge Loop.
Take equestrian trail to hardy ridge west or east. You will come up on the west side of the trail first on the left of the trail. There are signs. For East side follow equestrian trail till the trail goes to a single track, there is a sign that says foot traffic only.
Taking Children
Experienced hiking children on the ridge as there are steep drop offs. Equestrian trail is wide with gradual incline and declines.

4/9/19 Tuesday hardy ridge loop 7.62 miles. Hiked east and west trails via the equestrian trail. Snow on trail when I went in the forrest high above. Patches of snow on side of trail right before trail turns to foot traffic only. Lots of debris on the west descent of the trail. Summited on a rainy day, so I did not explore the top much. Beautiful hike.

Hardy Ridge Loop Trail
Hardy Ridge runs north-south perpendicular to the Columbia River near Bonneville Dam just west of Hamilton Mountain on the Washington side of the river. This April 7 hike seemed more like a July hike than an early spring hike, with brilliant blue skies and the temperature at 85 degrees. A range of wildflowers have bloomed in profusion--western trillium, wood violets, salmonberry, Oregon anemone, desert parsley, candy flower, and, higher up, many, many yellow glacier lilies. The hot east wind barreling down the gorge was so blustery on the ridge top that, a couple of times, quick sideways footwork was needed to avoid being blown down.

Up west hardy down east hardy via equestrian trail at beacon rock today's track is orange. 5/7/19 Beacon rock state park WA. Solo Equestrian trail to west hardy trail, hiked on top of hardy for a bit, to east hardy trail, to equestrian trail.10.3 miles in 6hrs 2,091 elevation gain.
