Old Baldy Peak is the less popular "Baldy" and is further south than the popular Mount Baldy scramble. Hikers can do a There and Back up the creek trail, or they can do a loop by ascending the ridge to the north, crossing the high plateau, and returning via the creek trail. Fair warning - the creek trail is getting way better after the 2013 floods, but the trail does cross the creek several times. Some sharp eyes and route finding is required. The Ridge route is the more strenuous approach, as the trail does go straight up the initial ridge, but the views and varied terrain are worth it. There is a large boulder field to cross, and some route finding across a few open meadows. Scramblers can continue past the plateau, and summit the peak via the ridge.
