It's tough re altitude gain, equivalent to Abby Grind. The trail climbs, then dips very considerably, then climbs sgain. In other words, the book altitude gain is not the real alt gain.
The whole hike is excellent. The start is magical deep lush forest. The trail is very varied, lots of ups and downs, interesting lines of sight, down valleys, mini granite cliff and rock tumble mid-hike, and nice views of Hope (and an even better one in the other direction) on top. It's Spring, so many wildflowers, the slanting sunlight was beautiful, the vegetation fresh and dense. Lots of salal, unusual right here by Hope. The trail has seen a lot of work and is in perfect condition: many stair-like constructions, some affixed to rocks with pipes inserted into holes that have been drilled into the rock. Haven't seen that before! Also, a ton of work has gone into arranging large slabs of rock into stairs ...everywhere! I don't know if I like this, but the trail has received a lot of love.
