Sunrise Peak via Sunrise Trail #262 and Sunrise Loop Trail #262A
Overview
This is a moderate one-way trail to Sunrise Peak in Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Sunrise Trail #262 is steep and in rough condition due to motorbike use. It is rutted with sections of loose dirt and rocks. There are several nice views of Mt. Adams before the junction. At 0.8 miles turn right onto #262A and climb steeply towards Sunrise Peak. This is a hiker-only trail but is used by motorbikes and has a deep narrow rut down the center of the trail. The trail climbs above the trees and rounds a rocky cliff before reaching the junction with the Sunrise Peak Trail. Turn right for the final climb to the summit and its 360-degree views that include Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens, and Mt. Rainier.
