Buck Creek Trail to Monte Carlo
Overview
This out-and-back hike in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest links two quiet trailheads along old roadbeds, offering wildflower displays in early summer and views on clear days. Expect solitude or the occasional mountain biker.
Starting at McIlroy Saddle, the trail climbs steadily through second-growth forest along Penny Ridge. From the summit of Monte Carlo, you’ll get partial views of the Lewis River Valley and surrounding ridges. Continue further for a glimpse of Mt. Adams.
