I rode this on my gravel bike as part of a larger ride, June 27, 2020. It was ridden south to north, from FS 33A to Wildcat Gap. The "trail" starts out as a doubletrack forest service road with deteriorating road conditions as one heads north. A three way junction is encountered about 3 miles in. The right road leads about 0.75 miles to a dead end with a footpath down to the creek. The left road leads about 100 yards to a turn around and a trail into the hills. I hiked about a half mile and saw only rhododendron hells. The middle road is the actual trail. It is gated and has been long abandoned, barely even a road any more. This abandoned gated road is the prettiest part but has lots of blowdown. There's two creek crossings and some gorgeous fern gardens, folllowed by a long, rocky ascent to the gap on washed out doubletrack. As an challenging adventure/gravel ride it was OK but I don't imagine it would be a very nice hike unless you are looking for absolute solitude.
