5S07 - Bee Canyon Highlights
Highlights: 5S07 - Bee Canyon - Hemet, California
10 miles east of Hemet, Bee Canyon is in the San Bernardino National Forest and one of two access points off Hwy 74 for the many trails of the western Idyllwild area. This area is great for the local target shooters with the many side canyons. To the Jeepers, the short 3 mile drive connects you to "East Indian Creek" and "San Jacinto Ridge" truck trails. These connector trails will take you to Hwy 243 and Idyllwild.
Technical rating: (1-2) Easy
Dirt road. Dry, or less than 3" water crossing depth. Some ruts. Slight grades, up to 10 degrees. 2WD under most conditions. Rain or snow may make 4WD necessary. Usually one and a half to two vehicles wide.
Directions to Trailhead
From Hemet, continue east on Hwy 74 (Florida Ave). When the Hwy starts to curve a bit you'll pass the Cranston Ranger Station on your right. You'll travel 0.8 mile past that point and after crossing a narrow bridge turn left onto a dirt road. There is a "Victory Out Reach" sign at the road and you'll go 1 more mile to the trailhead.

Route Description
The first half of Bee Canyon is in a sandy wash. If raining, this route is not recommended. The second half of the trail is through scrub desert brush on a narrow at times, fairly steep, rutted and sometimes rocky road to trails end. The climb is from 1935 feet to 2976 feet.

The first mile is relatively flat in a sandy wash. There are several mini canyons to the left, west, where target shooting is allowed. The USFS OHV photo show why I love Bee Canyon. It is a connector trail to East Indian Creek TT and San Jacinto Ridge TT and beyond. Bee Canyon is in the lower left.
