Don't really recommend this hike. The first three miles up to the peak are quite steep, and the trail is poorly maintained. I didn't see a single person between the trailhead and Muir peak, and understandably so. The trail is steep, hard to find in a few places, and a bit dicey in a few others. If you want to check out Muir peak, much better to hike up to Inspiration Point from Cobb Estate, then hike over to Muir, and then backtrack.
