Always a great loop. Path was clear and dry. Going up the Mass side can be a little steep but manageable.

Under mountain Appalachian

This is an excellent day hike via the Under Mountain trail to the Appalachian trail NB to the Bear Mountain Summit. Stopped at the summit to have a bit of lunch, take in the views and enjoy the environment. The hike is a nearly continuous uphill trek to Bear Mountain. Continuing NB on the Appalachian trail briefly into Massachusetts is an extremely steep and rocky descent. I was glad I brought both trekking poles this trip. I would hike this route more often were it not for the drive distance from Hartford.
