Wildcat Mountain via Douglas Trail #781(edit)

07/29/2026 sih, cvg Think this is more accurate milage; 2022 track jumps around a lot. Usual target practice noise, and longish drive to trailhead, but a serene and shady walk otherwise. A lot of mycotrophic plants blooming. Only two guys on the trail. Couldn't find previous lunch spot, the new one is okay. NOTE: follow the shady forest path from the trailhead sign to the quarry rather than the straight decommissioned road, and keep on the quarry rim rather than straight ahead. 08/16/2022. (sih, cvg) Very nice mid-range walk. Lovely trees and understory, nice variety of flora. Plenty of huckleberries but past ripening this season. Gentle upgrade on very well maintained duff path. Nice views down into Eagle About 95% shade. Creek leaving the quarry. Only distant gunfire on this outing. A few mosquitos while sitting among the rhododendrons for lunch. Surprised by busy trail action (18 cars at trailhead, and numerous groups on trail) until nice Canadians explained there was big geocache thing happening. Would expect to be more serene usually.
