Overview

This is a moderate out and back trail to Dome Rock in Willamette National Forest.

This trail goes by Needle Rock.

There is no water on the trail.

Getting Started

Just before Detroit turn left onto French Creek Road. Paved. Drive to end of pavement, bear left onto NFS RD 2223 for 3.7 miles. The road is gravel with some washboard. The trail head is on your left. It is marked with a sign. There are several wide spots for parking.

Taking Children

The trail is narrow in spots along a fairly steep side hill. The top of Dome Rock has considerable exposure to falling.

This is an alternate route for Tumble Lake Loop.

Great wildflower trip. The Beargrass was in varying stages of bloom depending on the sun exposure. The Rhododendrons were blooming as well as Indian Paint Brush and Trillium. Well worth the drive and hike.
