This hike starts off pretty tough. If you can get past the first part, it's with the effort Hiking along the Appalachian Trail is always interesting. You never know who you will meet. I ended up having lunch with about 15 guys that were doing a multiple day hike. I also met a family of four that were only 200 miles from finishing hiking the entire trail. One of the members was an 11 year old girl. Very impressive.
Be sure to bring warm clothes, as the top along the trail is ridge running, and very cold. Especially when you get to the fire tower. The view is spectacular.
**Note**
Don't trust the stats exactly. They are correct going up, but somehow lost connection on part of the way back. For an accuracy assessment, just look at the information going up the mountain. I took the same route back.
