Silver Star Mountain via Grouse Vista Trail 180F
Overview
This is a moderate out and back trail to Silver Star Mountain in Gifford Pinchot National Forest.
This trail goes by Pyramid Rock.
This is a great hike, and is becoming increasingly popular. You are granted with sweeping views of Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens, Rainier, an Mt. Hood at different points during throughout the trail. During the spring months, the wildflowers are stunning.
Getting Started
This trail is inaccessible for a good chunk of the year due to the snow. During the warmer months, the road is in very bad shape, and absolutely requires high clearance 4WD to get to the top. There are other parking options at the bottom of the trail, but plan to add 1.5-2mi (one way) to your trek.
Taking Children
This hike is moderate when the temperatures are moderate, but it quickly becomes difficult when the heat picks up. It is not advisable to bring children during the hot months.
