Porter & Cascade
Porter- 4059'/1 Cascade- 4098'/2 808'/mi. Max- Cascade TH Elevation- 2217' Partly sunny to cloudy. Highs in the lower 70s, lows in the low 50s/upper 40s? 20mph gusts on cascade. Muddy the whole way up. Mud in the saddle between the two peaks was mid shin deep in places. Brook on Cascade trail was running Both ascents were moderate. The last climb on cascade was a lot of fun. Nothing too steep, descent was okay. Tons of hikers and a few traffic jams on the trail down cascade. Too many people on this trail. Lots of side trails from people attempting to avoid mud. Very worn in. Parking spaces were filling up fast at around 8:30 a.m. Make sure you arrive at the trailhead on 73 no later than 9. Spectacular, jaw dropping views on Cascade. Porter's were not as grand but still very impressive and gorgeous. No bugs. Water temp in the Cascade Lakes was around 63 degrees. Windy. No luck fishing. Tasty Burgers & Fries at the Noonmark Diner.
