This trail is actually 2 separate trails that can easily be linked together for a really nice hiking experience. The first is the Plunge Basin Trail. The second is the Erwin's View Trail. The Plunge Basin trail is definitely the harder of the 2 hikes with much more difficult terrain. The plunge basin trail gives you excellent river and water fall views, and Erwin's View trail will give you a birds eye view of the gorge. Both trails are worth the effort. Check out My Track for what I did.

This trail goes by Upper Linville Falls, Linville Falls, and Chimney View.

Getting Started

Linville Falls visitor center is located off milepost 316 of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Your GPS can easily find "Linville Falls Visitor Center". Take either trail first, as each has its own rewards.

Taking Children

Very small children may have a tough time with some of the places that require you to take a very high step up or down.

This is an alternate route for Upper falls view via Linville Falls Trail.
