AMC Carter Notch Hut via 19 Mile Brook
Public Transportation:
AMC’s Hiker Shuttle offers transportation from Joe Dodge Lodge/Pinkham Notch Visitor Center and the Highland Center to all major approach routes to the huts in Summer and Fall. The Hiker Shuttle also picks up and drops off at the Irving gas station on Main Street in Gorham, NH. Reservations are required (call 603-466-2727).
Trail Access:
The 19 Mile Brook trailhead parking area is located on the north side of NH Route 16, approximately one mile north of the Mount Washington Auto Road. This moderate 3.8 mile hike includes a steady uphill grade on rocky terrain. The trail parallels the Nineteen Mile Brook for 1.9 miles and then climbs a bit more steeply over the next 1.9 miles to the height of land. Footing is stable with some steep rocky sections. Elevation gain 2000 feet. On average, hikers should plan for 2.5-4 hours. Book time is estimated at 2 hrs, 52 min.
