Overview
This is a easy out and back trail to Maryland Heights in Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park.
This trail goes by Merriwether Lewis, White Hall Tavern, John Brown's Fort (Armory Firehouse), Lock 33, and Naval Battery.
The beginning of this hike is pretty easy [flat]. Once you corss over the Rover and the C&O canal the topography changes dramatically (see side topo map) and the walk up hill is long and continuous. The fall season brings out the tour buses, so plan your day accordingly.
