Palmateer Point
Nice hike. Not too hot. (Forecast was high of 77, but it was hotter on the exposed rocky sections. Had lunch at Upper Twin Lake. A bit early, but it was a nice spot. Note that after descent from PCT, it’s a moderate climb to the lake. Hiker trail to Palmateer was in good shape and not scary. Minor crossing of Palmateer Creek was easy. Climbed the last bit to the point around noon and it was hot. Views, especially Hood, were nice. The climb back to the PCT was hot with partial shade. Then we had to climb the PCT to the point where it goes down hill. The last downhill section was about 3/4 miles. People were hot and tired at the end, but I think they liked it. Restroom stop at Government Camp. Snack at coffee shop in Sandy. Milkshakes were a hit.
