Mchugh Peak Trail North(edit)

Overview

One of the many routes up McHugh Peak. This one is great because it quickly gets above treeline.
After a short patch of alder you are on a ridge for most of the remaining hike to the Peak. Nice views of Turnagain Arm, Rabbit Lake trail, Flat Top, Peak 2, etc. Route finding is easy (assuming you are not in clouds or fog). To get to the tip top - access the craggy top from the Rabbit Lakes side, not the inlet side.

Getting Started

The parking area looks large, but most of it is reserved for fire truck turnaround. There is room for 4 or 5 cars in the legitimate parking area. When parking be sure to park as close as reasonable to the neighboring car so as many vehicles as possible will fit. Some people park in the middle. I have heard of people being ticket, but I am not sure how aggressively the parking lot is patrolled.
