This is a welcome respite from the mobs that crowd the trail along the river. It is frequented by mountain bikers so there might be a lot of stepping off the trail, but because it goes through an area that was burned a few decades ago, the views are incredible and the young forest is lovely. Although the simplest way back is to join the crowds along the river, you can loop further south along the Swampy Trail and stay clear of congestion.
