Tam McArthur Rim
This is a moderate out-and-back trail in Deschutes National Forest that leads to the Tam McArthur Rim. Although somewhat steep in places, this is a popular hike for families with children as it is not very long and the view of two lakes from the top is breathaking. In the peak of summer, parking can be difficult after 10 AM and the trail can be somewhat crowded. To get away from the madding crowd, hikers can continue along the trail for another 2 miles to reach Broken Hand. Bring along an inflatable boat for fun at the end of the hike, although mosquitoes can be fierce by the lake.
