One of my favorite hikes (I'm local). The lower part to Cascade Falls is the best part for families, not too challenging. I've seen families with 10-year-olds do this part just fine, in good weather. There are some pretty sections, including two waterfalls, one that sometimes has ice in it as late as June. Lots of Trillium near that spot too. Cascade Falls is a great picnic spot. The rest of the trail is steep and doesn't have much for views.

First off I am 36, in very good shape and am just starting my mountain hiking experience. I would rate this hike as moderate and not difficult. My GAIA GPS tracker says I moved 6.09 mi in 3hr15min which included about 50 minutes of non-hiking, while enjoying the sights.
It was a hike throuh the clouds in early January at 10°F with hard snow pack, 2” fresh powder and a slight breeze. Visibility was about 200’ but the hike up was still very enjoyable. It includes a few beautiful ice waterfalls and towards the top, a nice dense pine forest. The lookout areas would be gorgeous in the clear but were still very neat in the clouds. The trail is very well marked except maybe 4 tricky spots where you need to stop and search for the next marking. I would not have done it without my ice cleats as the trail gets pretty icy in spots. The trail is very well kept and would certainly recommend the hike for someone looking for a good moderate hike.
