Overview

This is a easy out and back trail that serves as the trail head for other nearby trails. It starts as a narrow single track, that is shared with mountain bikes and horses. At the 1.5 mile point you can double back on your track, or take the graveled service road back downhill and South to the trailhead for a complete loop of just less than 3 miles.
From the 1.5 mile point, you can continue on Ringtail trail, a single track through undulating wooded hills leading past Thomas Hill and becoming Sharptail Trail, or take the graveled service road to the North and on to Roxborough Park.
The trail is shaded by woods and wildflowers abound, from Columbines and Alpine Daisies and Asters, to Thistle, Horsemint and Bee Balm. I the fall, the Raspberries are thick and you can find an occasional Wild Strawberry.
Take note of any warnings posted as the berries and campgrounds have brought bears a few times in the Fall and Spring.

Getting Started

From Sedalia, follow Rt67 or Jarre Canyon Road for 10 miles to the Indian Creek Campground and Trailhead. This is a fee parking area ($7 2019) and is open year round, though the campground is closed Labor Day to Memorial Day. There is a wide shoulder across from the parking area that you can park on for free. Parking accommodates horse trailers as well (there are also Equine campgrounds with corrals).
There is an outhouse stocked with paper at the West end of the parking lot, and the trailhead is just beyond that.
During camping season, there is potable water available at the campsites.

Taking Children

This is a good hike for children that can handle rolling hills, as the flowers and berries make for lots to see. There are squirrels and chipmunks galore. Just be cautious of the horse traffic that shares the path and leaves squishy obstacles along the way.
