Overview

This is a difficult loop trail to Trail Rider Pass in White River National Forest.

This trail goes by Maroon Lake, Beaver Dam, bridge and rapids, Crater Lake, West Maroon Pass, and Frigid Air Pass.

Getting Started

NOTE: New for 2020, ALL persons (without special permission) accessing Maroon Lake are required to either possess a vehicle parking permit (date specific) OR are required to use the RFTA shuttle bus that begins operating on June 28th. See the two links below for parking permit information and for shuttle bus information.
Shuttle and Parking Reservations, RFTA Maroon Bells

-ALL Vehicles parking at the Maroon Lake TH will need a parking pass. Otherwise you'll need to reserve a shuttle spot from Aspen Highlands.
-You only need to reserve a time for the shuttle for GOING TO the trailhead. Return trips, no specific reservation or time slot is required, just a pass.
-Buying multiple one-day permits WILL NOT allow you to park overnight. The overnight parking lots and day use parking lots are separate.
-You can drop off people or gear OUTSIDE of the shuttle hours, even if you are not parking (between 5p-8a).
-Backpacking permits are NOT required to hike the loop.
